Cottage dining room interior design

The Brief

The brief was to create a fun dining space for 8-10 people in a period Cotswold cottage

The space has low ceilings, a large inglenook fireplace and four doors, leaving little in the way of usable wall space. The client had a large antique oil painting that they wished to use but they didn’t want the space to feel too traditional.

The challenges with this space were primarily the lighting design, with little wall space and low ceilings. We overcame this by using beautiful brushed bronze picture lights and the insertion of a new pendant over the dining table. The colour scheme picks out the blues, greens and pinks in the client’s artwork and the overall effect is of a relaxed contemporary dining space.
