THE BRIEF

This is the style board for a beautiful contemporary Cotswold stone property. The client has a love of the sea, impressionist art and Degas. The brief was for the space to feel calm, nurturing and relaxed.

We work with the clients existing pieces were possible and in this case they had a large dark grey loveseat and a wooden sideboard. We painted the walls in a warm stone colour to create a cocooning effect and repainted the sideboard in warm soft terracotta, sanding back the oak top. This was then styled with a statement lamp, layered impressionist art, stone & bronze sculptures, plants and candles.

We introduced a large, relaxed striped sofa in a similar form to the existing love seat and had it upholstered in a contemporary way for additional interest. We styled both with soft terracotta cushions and a sea green throw to add warmth. Two large oak framed prints were placed symmetrically over the sofa to provide calming balance. Calming curves softened the space in the form of stacked round glass coffee tables and an arched mirror and plants were added for a bio-philic, nurturing effect.

Textural materials in the form of the rug, rattan side table, wicker basket add interest and depth and additional seating was provided with two sea-green, velvet pouffes in front of the front window. By using this style of flexible seating we left the view to the garden unhindered. Window treatments were a bespoke design of cream and blue linen.
